The tour kicks off August 17 at Bottletree in Birmingham, Ala., and will make a whopping 70 stops at venues across the U.S. and Canada through the middle of November, including the Rock And Roll Hotel in Washington, D.C. (August 21), New York’s Webster Hall (August 24), Lee’s Palace in Toronto, O.N. (August 28), Chicago’s Abbey Pub (August 31), Bimbo’s 365 Club in San Francisco (September 6), First Avenue in Minneapolis (September 16), the Beta Bar in Tallahassee, Fla. (October 7), the Highline Ballroom in New York (October 18), Richard’s on Richards in Vancouver, B.C. (November 4), The Casbah in San Diego (November 11) and Emo’s Austin in Texas (November 17).
The band will make multiple stops at several clubs, like Chicago’s Abbey Pub, Minneapolis’ 7th Street Entry and Seattle’s Chop Suey, over the course of the tour.
Opening duties for the tour will be shared by Stereo Total, Cinemechanica and Aesop Rock.
The Octopus Project’s as-yet-untitled new disc is due for release in October. The band says the project is “chock full of goodies and surprises.” In addition to the band’s normal guitar/bass/drums/keyboards, the album features strings, trombones, Theremin and “tons and tons of crazy noises and beats.”
