The “Spring Skaward” tour kicks off Feb. 12 at Emo’s in Austin, with stops scattered at clubs across the Lower 48 through March 6.
Tickets for shows at venues like The Loft in Atlanta (Feb. 19), World Café Live in Philadelphia (Feb. 23), NYC’s Fillmore New York at Irving Plaza (Feb. 27) and Milwaukee’s Turner Music Hall (March 3) are on sale now. Additional info is available on The English Beat’s MySpace and Facebook pages, as well as at Fishbone.net.
The outing is a career celebration for the both influential bands: The English Beat’s 1980 debut, I Just Can’t Stop, turns 30 this year and Fishbone’s breakthrough single “Party at Ground Zero” hits the 25 year mark.
For affable English Beat frontman Dave Wakeling, the tour is the perfect way to celebrate – even if his touring partner does force to him to stay on his toes.
“I’m going to be celebrating the anniversary by doing what I enjoy the most – singing songs live to a fired-up audience, then traveling overnight on the bus to get ready to do it all over again,” Wakeling said. “You have to be very confident to follow Fishbone. They give no quarter, take no prisoners, and the stage is awash with their escapades. We are confident that together we can make this a night to remember!”
Joining the legendary pair on the road is Outlaw Nation, a band Wakeling describes as “ska on its next great adventure, mixing Louisiana pocket with sweet melodies and sublime overtones.”
