Spain consists of 17 autonomous communities, and Catalonia is one of them. Its capital Barcelona is one of the country’s most important live entertainment markets.
“In recent years, the Catalan music scene has given rise to a wide range of genres and styles,” according to the makers of Primavera Sound, who will therefor give a selection of Catalan talent a stage when the festival goes down in Barcelona, Spain, May 29–June 2.
‘It Is Still Very Economical To Attend A Festival’: Q’s With Primavera Sound’s Alfonso Lanza
Primavera Sound is known for bringing some of the most outstanding international names to the Parc del Forum each year, performing to up to 80,000 people with the city lights on one side, and the Balearic sea on the other as backdrop.
This year’s lineup is led by Lana del Rey, SZA, PJ Harvey, The National, Justice, Vampire Weekend, Charli XCX, Peggy Gou, Mitski, and many more.
They will be joined by some of the best newcomers from the autonomous community of Catalonia, of which Barcelona is the capital: Ferran Palau, Guillem Gisbert, Renaldo & Clara, Mushkaa, Ariox, Xebi SF, Mujeres, and Tiemei.
That’s in addition to more up-and-coming talent showcased during Primavera Pro, the music business conference that traditionally precedes the festival. The Catalan Institute for Cultural Companies, a public institution of the Catalan Ministry of Culture, is curating the program, which features Mar Pujol, Llum, iriex, and dani6ixix & IZZKID.
