Wasserman Music has landed a rising star in the Latin urban scene. The major talent agency signed star Maria Becerra for representation worldwide excluding Latin America.
The deal caps what has been a stellar year for Becerra, who was nominated for four Latin Grammys and was one of the highlights of the awards show in Seville, Spain. She performed alongside Pablo Alborán during the ceremony and showcased her talent as a vocalist. The breakout artist also performed at Lollapalooza this year.
With a musical style that fuses reggaeton, pop and bachata, Becerra is one of the leading artists of Argentina’s recent urban movement along with Bizarrap, Tiago PZK, Nicki Nicole and Cazzu. After releasing her debut EP, 222, American record label 300 Entertainment, which has Megan Thee Stallion on its roster, signed Becerra, making her its first Latin music signing.
Pollstar recently covered Becerra’s journey from social media sensation to music stardom. Along the way, she garnered more than 5 million followers and over 25 million monthly listeners on Spotify, becoming the most streamed female artist in Argentina. No arena in her native country could accommodate such a fanbase, so Becerra followed in the footsteps of major artists like Bad Bunny and Karol G and made the jump to stadiums. Becerra will perform at Estadio Monumental in Buenos Aires on March 23, a show that sold out in less than 90 minutes with sales outpacing stars including Harry Styles, Michael Jackson and Coldplay. Due to popular demand, the rapidly rising Latin star announced today on social media that she will add a second date.
Becerra recently performed at Auditorio Nacional in Mexico City, selling 5,942 tickets and grossing $353,802 on Oct. 12, according to box office reports submitted to Pollstar.
