AEG Europe is in a great place, “buoyed by a summer of success and a busy Q4 to come,” according to president and CEO Alex Hill. That summer included the 10th edition of BST Hyde Park, where a stellar lineup including Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen, P!NK and Lana Del Ray attracted 650,000, as well as the 20th anniversary of Rock en Seine in France, which boasted an equally impressive lineup led by Billie Eilish, The Chemical Brothers,
Cypress Hill and Placebo.
Some of AEG Europe’s buildings are also celebrating milestone anniversaries this year: Mercedes-Benz Arena in Berlin, Germany, turned 15 this September, the adjacent Verti Music Hall turned 5. Just like AEG Europe’s Barclays Arena in Hamburg, these buildings “lead by example in their eco-friendly operations with various energy conservation efforts, from achieving a near 40% reduction with LED lighting and rooftop cogeneration plants, to fully eliminating single-use plastics through an inhouse reusable cup washing system,” Hill explains.
Speaking of sustainability, AEG Europe just announced a world-first at The O2, London: “We are piloting a new type of gig – a carbon removed event, taking place at The 1975’s headline shows in February 2024. In collaboration with our partners, carbon removal experts CUR8, and sustainable event specialists A Greener Future, The O2 will remove over 100 tons of residual carbon emissions per event, thereby neutralizing the carbon impact,” Hill explains.
The world-famous arena will open its exclusive members club, The Residence, “promising an unforgettable experience that you won’t want to miss,” says Hill. On the touring front, AEG Europe’s international touring team is working around the clock on the next leg of Taylor Swift’s “Eras Tour,” “with some exciting other tours yet to be announced,” according to Hill.
