Holly Gleason, Pollstar Senior Contributing Editor, has been nominated for five Southern California Journalism Awards by the Los Angeles Press Club. Among her nominations are two Pollstar cover stories: “Why Dolly Parton Belongs In The Rock Hall” and “The Unforgettable Fire: How Miranda Lambert Danced In The Fire & Became A Global Superstar.”
Gleason was also nominated in the Best Entertainment Journalist, Best Criticism of Music and Best Entertainment Commentary on The Arts for a Library of Congress National Registry of Recordings piece on “Stand by Your Man.”
Additionally, Gleason’s new book with Miranda Lambert, “Y’all Eat Yet? Welcome to the Pretty B*tchin’ Kitchen” (Harper/Collins), is on both the New York Times’ Best Seller List and Publisher’s Weekly Nonfiction Hardcover List.
Gleason also edited the 2017 book “Woman Walk the Line: How the Women in Country Music Changed Our Lives,” a collection of essays by female music writers on the artists that inspired them. It was published by the University of Texas Press as part of their American Music Series.
The acclaimed collection, which included essays from Rosanne Cash, Taylor Swift, Grace Potter, historians Holly George Warren and Alice Randall, Access Hollywood founding producer Nancy Harrison, former USA Today pop critic Elysa Gardner and VenuesNow‘s Wendy Pearl, won the prestigious Belmont Book Award, given for best book about country and roots music.
Gleason has written for The New York Times, Rolling Stone, Hits, Spin, and The Miami Herald.
