PRESIDENT, TOURING, LIVE NATION CONCERTS
Live Nation
Over the last year, Omar Al-joulani has promoted some of the company’s largest tours including Imagine Dragons and Florence + The Machine, in addition to his work alongside Arthur Fogel across Live Nation’s global touring business including 2022 worldwide tour deals with Red Hot Chili Peppers and The Weeknd.
Being responsible for overseeing all booking and operations for Live Nation’s concert business, Al-joulani could certainly take some pride in the company’s overall success, with LN reporting $3.1 billion in revenue for the first quarter of 2023.
But Al-joulani singled out the paid internship program LN launched last year as “a major accomplishment for Live Nation Concerts. We’ve created a program for college students that is inclusive, educational, and provides the necessary tools for career development in the live music industry. Through this program, we’re also broadening the talent pool for hiring for full-time positions.”
In May 2022, Live Nation announced it received a record 15,000 applications for 50 openings in the college internship program that featured interns working in various departments across the U.S. concerts division.
Increasing diversity has been a priority for Live Nation across the board, from interns and entry level employees to talent buyers. Al-joulani adds, “This is a focus when it comes to recruitment and hiring, but also in training and leadership development for our existing staff. Creating a more inclusive workplace fosters new ideas and makes both our employees and artists feel supported and represented.”
Asked his favorite show of the year, Al-joulani says that every night of the The Weeknd’s “After Hours Til Dawn Tour” was really special.
“It was his first stadium tour, on the heels of his Super Bowl performance and two massive album releases. Seeing it finally come to life and sell out across all dates in North America was incredible. He will also kick off his global leg across Europe and Latin America this June.”
The Weeknd ranked No. 6 on Pollstar’s 2022 North America chart and No. 13 on the Worldwide chart with $124.5 million grossed.
