Settlement Forces Promoter To Refund

The promoter behind the canceled 2015 Arizona Jazz Festival is refunding ticket buyers after a settlement including thousands of dollars in restitution was reached.

The Arizona attorney general’s office announced July 27 that a settlement including up to $75,000 in restitution for consumers was reached with BTWConcerts.com, according to The Arizona Republic. The settlement also bans related entities BTWCruises.com LLC and Alternatix Inc. from organizing and promoting events in Arizona.

The settlement is a result of the Office’s investigation of the promoter after it received complaints regarding the cancelation of the jazz festival and the jazz-themed cruise Maxwell + The 7 Seas.

BTWConcerts.com failed to refund people who purchased tickets to the festival, whose lineup included Babyface, Keith Sweat and Mint Condition. 

Consumers who bought tickets to either of the events and have not been reimbursed may be eligible for restitution if they submit a complaint and proof of payment to the Arizona attorneys general’s office by Aug. 20.
