Although only roughly seven percent of the general youth population identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender, up to 40 percent of the 1.6 million homeless youth are LGBT. The True Colors Fund, which was co-founded by Lauper, is striving to change that disproportionate rate, which can be blamed, in part, on family rejection.
The 2015 edition also includes Cam, Judy Gold, Ledisi, Keb’ Mo’, Sharon Osbourne, Jordan Pundik, Valerie Simpson, Anne Steele, Joey Taranto, and Justin Tranter. Your host is Carson Kressley. More artists will be added soon.
“For the fifth year, ‘Home for the Holidays’ will feature an incredible night of performances in support of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender youth experiencing homelessness,” Lauper said. “I’m so grateful for the artists who will donate their time and talents this December in support of a cause that we can’t ignore. This concert will enable the True Colors Fund to continue our work to create a world in which kids can be their true selves. I can’t wait.”
Tickets go on sale Friday, Nov. 6 at 12 p.m. EST.
