Bob Marley would have turned 70 on Feb. 6. The legendary Jamaican reggae singer died 34 years ago on May 11.
The tour – which takes its name from The Wailers’ fifth album, 1973’s Catch A Fire – is filled with the next generation of reggae musicians. Tarrus Riley is the son of Jimmy Riley while Morgan Heritage features the five children of Denroy Morgan – Peetah Morgan (vocals), Una Morgan (keyboard/vocals), Roy “Gramps” Morgan (keyboard/vocals), Nakhamyah “Lukes” Morgan (rhythm guitar) and Memmalatel “Mr. Mojo” Morgan (percussion/vocals).
Plus, the excursion features special guests Jo Mersa (Stephen Marley’s oldest son) and Black Am I.
Before Catch A Fire begins, Damian and Stephen each have their own headline dates to do. Damian has a bunch of festival appearances lined up, including Saturday’s set at Hangout Fest in Gulf Shores, Ala. He’s currently working on his upcoming solo album.
Stephen’s solo tour schedule includes stops at festivals like Reggae On The River in Piercy, Calif., Aug. 1 and headline dates such as Aug. 4 at Las Vegas’ House Of Blues. He’s supporting his latest LP, 2014’s Revelation Pt. 2 – The Fruit of Life.
