Atlantic City, N.J., faces a long stretch of empty beachfront business if (L-R) the Trump Plaza, Showboat and Revel casino/hotels each shut down, which is a distinct possibility in the near future while all look for buyers.

Nearly $21,000 is unaccounted for after an armored truck made a pickup from Revelโ€™s casino and someone left a bag of money on the vehicleโ€™s roof and drove away Aug. 6. Hours after the pickup, the casino was notified the cash was missing.

Surveillance video along the GardaWorld truckโ€™s route showed the bag still atop the rear driverโ€™s side roof of the vehicle as it pulled away from Revel at 10:51 a.m.

The bag was still there when the truck arrived for another pickup at Resorts Atlantic City, about six minutes away. And it was still there when the truck departed and headed down Pennsylvania Avenue toward Route 40, according to the Press of Atlantic City.

Itโ€™s not clear where or when the bag finally fell off. GardaWorld spokesman Joe Gavaghan says the company is investigating and cooperating with law enforcement. Revel will close its hotel Sept. 1, followed by its casino the next day, because of financial troubles.
