The purchase will be used for campsites, while the rest of the property will remain a farm. Use of the fields and woods for camping means that all campsites will surround the concert site, making the farthest campsite 1.5 miles closer to the venue entrance than the 2013 site plan, according to a statement.
The purchase also resolves traffic management issues and minimizes safety concerns regarding pedestrians, cyclists and motorized vehicles that previously had to share the road with cars on Oak Ridge Road.
“We intend to be responsible stewards of the land,” Peter Shapiro, managing partner of Lockn’ LLC, said in a statement.
Lockn’ 2014 is Sept. 4-7 with acts including Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, The Allman Brothers Band, Furthur, Wilco and Widespread Panic.
