‘Tour Odyssey’ Announces Second Leg & More

There’s more to “Tour Odyssey” the road trip with headliners The Dirty Heads and Shiny Toy Guns along with Midi Matilda and Oh No Fiasco  than the second leg announced this week.  The outing also ties in online digital download stores, social media and, well, you.

As the tour launches tonight in Texas at Dallas’ House Of Blues, the story behind the story is about the American Association Of Independent Music (A2IM) partnering with imprint Five Seven Music for branding indie labels with artists.

Facilitated by A2IM supporters such as iTunes, Amazon, Spotify, Facebook, YouTube and others, the plan calls for those platforms to help market and create unique content and community features for ticket buyers and fans.

That’s unique content like the free Five Seven Music album samplers given to fans when they buy a ticket for the tour and are on sale a iTunes for $6.99.  Along with music from all the bands on the Tour Odyssey, the sampler also includes tracks from Five Seven Music act Nico Vega.

A2IM President Rich Bengloff described such marketing techniques as a way to bring fans together with the artists as well as the people behind the tour.

“These supporters recognize the importance and large market share of the independent alternative music community (over 30 percent) and our community’s flexibility and willingness to embrace new technologies as reasons for being involved in this initiative,” Bengloff said.  “Tour Odyssey will seek to connect the dots between fans, artists, content and promoters.  We hope this will be the first of many branded touring packages and is the way of the future for our independent community to connect our label members with their artists’ fans.”
