“Everyone’s doing this for free,” Morgan Lebus, the founder of Ribbon Music and the former A&R executive at Domino Records, told the New York Times. “People just felt compelled to be a part of the cause.”

The New York Times notes that Lebus signed Dirty Projectors to Domino.

“These people are friends,” he said. “This came together with 10 phone calls, 10 emails and 10 texts.”

To attend the show, there is a suggested donation of a minimum of $30. All proceeds will go to Occupy Sandy, a coalition that includes members of Occupy Wall Street, 350.org, recovers.org and interoccupy.net.

On its website Occupy Sandy describes itself as “a coordinated relief effort to help distribute resources & volunteers to help neighborhoods and people affected by Hurricane Sandy.”

Reuters reports that the Occupy Wall Street movement has helped victims of Hurricane Sandy in Brooklyn and Queens by setting up food and clothing distribution centers, volunteer coordination sites and makeshift clinics.
