Dylan will open the updated 1,835-capacity Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, N.Y., Sept. 4. Acts on the books for the venue include The Roots, My Morning Jacket, Al Green, Fiona Apple, Regina Spektor and Steve Miller Band.
The venue is located near the border with Connecticut and does not conflict with NYC plays.
The venue, which fell out of regular use in the ’80s, underwent a major renovation that includes an arena-sized lighting rig, 10 HD projectors and a line array sound system, in addition to updated carpets, paint and bathrooms.
Brooklyn Bowl’s Peter Shapiro signed a long-term lease to take over operations and will book the venue in partnership with Bowery Presents. He explained that combining such a stellar lineup this fall in a historic room with “the most state-of-the-art sound, lighting and visual projection technologies in the world should create a pretty amazing experience.”
The 85-year-old theatre is listed in the National Register of Historic Places and boasts a 65-foot domed ceiling with medallions, columns and an arch over the stage.
Seating at the Cap includes a general admission floor plus a seated balcony with VIP seats and six box suites.
