As the guitarist, singer and main songwriter for The Stranglers between 1974 to 1990, Cornwell helped the band release 10 hit albums and rack up 20 Top Forty singles. The band’s hits include “Peaches,” “No More Heroes,” “Golden Brown,” “Always The Sun,” “Grip,” “Nice ‘n’ Sleazy,” “Duchess” and “No Mercy.” Cornwell has released eight solo studio albums, including his most recent, 2008’s Hooverdam. His next album, titled Totem and Taboo, is due out later this year.
Matlock made a name for himself as the bassist in the original lineup of the Sex Pistols. The band’s only studio album, 1977’s Never Mind The Bollocks, Here’s The Sex Pistols, lists Matlock as a co-author on 10 of the 12 tracks. After leaving the group in 1977, he reunited with the Pistols for reunion tours in 1996, 2002, 2003, 2007 and 2008. Matlock also formed the New Wave power pop band The Rich Kids in 1977 and joined the reformed Faces in 2010.
Cornwell’s set will feature Stranglers hits along with his own solo material. Matlock will perform tunes from his latest album plus new material. Both acts will be accompanied by drummer Clem Burke and bassist Steve Fishman. Guitarist James Stevenson will also take the stage with Matlock.
