The former Guns N’ Roses and Velvet Revolver bassist was at Seattle University to promote his new book “It’s Easy and Other Lies.” McKagan previously took classes as a full-time student at the university’s Albers School of Business and Economics.

During the book signing Oct. 21 a middle-aged man asked McKagan, “Was he depressed on the airline?”

The man was referring to a 1994 Seattle-bound flight McKagan shared with Cobain days before the Nirvana frontman committed suicide, according to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer.

A YouTube video filmed at the Q&A shows McKagan responding to the man by saying “But Kurt Cobain has nothing to do …” Before he could finish his sentence the man began to raise his voice and get rowdy with an individual apparently working at the event. 

As organizers at the event tried to lead the heckler toward the exit, the man continued to raise his voice, shouting, “Why are these people grabbing at me? Who are these people?”

McKagan eventually walked to the edge of the stage to give the heckler a piece of his mind.

“Hey! Get the f*** out of here,” McKagan said.

According to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, the heckler, whose name is Richard Lee, often attends public meetings and events in Seattle. In the 1990s Lee had a public access TV show called “Now See It Person To Person: Kurt Cobain Was Murdered.”

Lee’s previous antics have convinced people like former Seattle mayor Greg Kickels and former Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic to file restraining orders against him.
