“Other Voices” has spent the past nine seasons presenting unique live sets and in-depth interviews from Irish and international bands and musicians. The series is filmed in the historic, two-hundred-year old St. James Church in Dingle, County Kerry in Ireland.
In addition to the previously announced acts, the lineup includes Bell XI, The National’s Bryce & Aaron Dessner, Doveman singer/keyboardist Thomas Bartlett, folk artist Sam Amidon, singer/producer Iarla Ó Lionáird, and fiddlers Caoimhín Ó Raghallaigh and Martin Hayes. More artists will be announced soon.
Irish literary figures including Joseph O’Connor and Colum McCann will be there to share intimate readings.
“There is a continually evolving exchange taking place among a new generation of Irish and American musicians and writer,” Philip King, series editor for “Other Voices,” said in a statement.
“Many of the great artists contributing to this unique event visited with us in Dingle and found the experience uplifting and inspirational. It’s exciting for us to journey to New York City to continue the conversation.”
Proceeds from the event benefit Dublin’s Fighting Words creative writing center. The center provides free tutoring and mentoring in creative writing and related arts. Since establishing the center in early 2009, Fighting Words has hosted over 25,000 students in workshops and courses.
