Bieber will perform with his mentor and five-time Grammy winner Usher in collaboration with Jaden Smith. Entertainment Weekly points out that although the son of Will Smith (and brother of 10-year-old singer Willow Smith) is best known as an actor, Smith was featured as a rapper in Bieber’s tune “Never Say Never.”
Additional performers announced include Grammy nominees B.o.B, Bruno Mars and Janelle Monáe. The three artists will perform together for the first time.
Mars scored seven nominations including record of the year, best rap/sung collaboration (with B.o.B), and best rap song for “Nothin’ On You.”
Thanks to Mars and “Nothin’ On You,” B.o.B picked up three nods himself. He was also nominated for two more awards – best pop collaboration with vocals for “Airplanes, Part II” (with Eminem & Hayley Williams) and best rap album for The Adventures Of Bobby Ray.
Bieber is up for best new artist and best pop vocal album for My World 2.0. Monáe, Muse and Usher have also each been nominated for two awards.
Lady Antebellum is competing for six awards including album of the year and best country album for Need You Now.
Previously announced performers include Lady Gaga, Arcade Fire, Eminem, Cee-Lo Green, Miranda Lambert and Katy Perry.
