Who’s in The Jayhawks these days? That is, other than founding members Mark Olson and Gary Louris? The current lineup features original bassist Marc Perlman, Karen Grotberg on keyboards and Tim O’Reagan on drums.
The seven night / five city adventure is in support of the re-release of the band’s first two albums – 1992’s Hollywood Town Hall and 1995’s Tomorrow The Green Grass. Of course, these days you don’t re-release an album without adding a little something extra. In this case, both reissues have been expanded with plenty of additional content in the form of bonus tracks. In fact, Tomorrow The Green Grass is now a deluxe double-CD with the second disc containing 18 previously unreleased songs recorded in 1992 by Olson and Louris and dubbed The Mystery Demos.
The tour begins in Toronto at The Phoenix Jan. 18. Plans also include two nights in New York City at Webster Hall Jan. 20-21, Philadelphia at Theatre Of Living Arts Jan. 22 and two Chicago evenings at The Vic Jan. 27-28 before closing in Minneapolis at First Avenue Jan. 29.
The band is also taking advantage of those two-night stands in New York and Chicago by playing Hollywood Town Hall in its entirety the first night and Tomorrow The Green Grass the second.
A pre-sale for all shows with the exception of the two nights in Chicago begins Nov. 30 and runs through Dec. 2. The general onsale for all shows except, you guessed it, Chicago, begins Dec. 3. Meanwhile, Chicago gets its own sales dates with the pre-sale beginning Dec. 3 and the general onsale launching Dec. 4.
