Lady Gaga Snags 13 VMA Noms

By racking up 13 MTV Video Music Award nominations Lady Gaga has broken the record for most VMA nods in a single year. Now she just needs to bring home more than nine of the moonmen to beat Peter Gabriel’s “Sledgehammer” record for most wins in a single night.

Lady Gaga also became the first female artist nominated for two different videos in the Video of the Year category with noms for “Bad Romance” and “Telephone” featuring Beyonce. The pop star is up against 30 Seconds To Mars’ “Kings and Queens,” B.o.B.’s “Airplanes,” Eminem’s “Not Afraid” and Florence & the Machine’s “Dog Days Are Over.”

Gaga earned two nominations in the Best Collaboration category for her work with Beyonce on “Telephone” and “Video Phone (Extended Remix).” She also earned nods for Best Pop Video, Best Female Video and Best Dance Video as well as recognition in a number of professional categories including best art direction, best choreography, best cinematography, best direction, best edition and best special effects.

“I’m so honored for all the little monsters and self-professed freaks of the universe, to have more VMA nominations in a single year than any artist in MTV history. Ironically, I’m even more proud it’s an unlucky number: 13,” Gaga said in a statement.

“A long time ago, the world told me and my little monsters we would never be heard. Together we changed the rules. God put me on Earth for three reasons: to make loud music, gay videos and cause a damn ruckus. Thank you, MTV!”
