The photo showing surviving members Ric Ocasek, Greg Hawkes, Elliot Easton and David Robinson sitting in a recording studio was posted earlier this week along with a note saying “Anyone in the mood for a reunion by The Cars?”
Bassist Benjamin Orr, who sang on several Car hits, including “Just What I Needed,” “Drive” and “Bye, Bye Love,” passed away from pancreatic cancer in 2000.
But the inscription launching a thousand rumors has since vanished from the band’s Facebook page, leaving only the picture and various media outlets wondering, “what’s up?”
There was a partial reunion five years ago when Hawkes and Easton joined with Todd Rundgren, Kasim Sulton and Prairie Prince to form The New Cars, which performed their last live date in 2007.
Do you think The Cars should fire up the engine for a new album and perhaps even a tour? Please take the time to answer the poll below before checking out the photo.
