The second leg of the tour kicks off June 25 at the Sugar Nightclub in Victoria, British Columbia, with headline shows on the books through a July 17 performance at Showbox At The Market in Seattle.
Additional shows include The Starlite Room in Edmonton, Alberta (June 28), The Intersection in Grand Rapids, Mich. (July 3), Webster Hall in New York (July 8), Mr. Small’s Theatre in Pittsburgh (July 10) and Ogden Theatre in Denver (July 14).
On May 29 Minus The Bear joins artists including My Morning Jacket, Vampire Weekend, OK Go and Nada Surf for this year’s Sasquatch! Music Festival at the Gorge Amphitheatre in Quincy, Wash. The band has booked a few other festivals this summer including performances at Taste Of Minnesota at Harriet Island Park in Saint Paint (July 2), Forecastle Festival at The Riverfront Belvedere in Louisville, Ky. (July 11) and a slot at Lollapalooza, scheduled for Aug. 6-8 at Chicago’s Grant Park.
Minus The Bear is touring in support of the band’s fourth full-length album.
Omni, the follow-up to 2007’s Planet of Ice, was released May 4 on Dangerbird Records. The album was produced by Grammy Award-wining producer Joe Chiccarelli, who has worked with artists including The White Stripes and My Morning Jacket.
Alternative Press describes the album as “an immaculate vacuum of dark-yet-catchy ‘80s prog and new wave” and “the perfect album to launch [the band] into another dimension entirely.
Paste Magazine adds that, “Omni is a record to rupture speakers. Dave Knudson’s noodling has evolved into heavier, tighter riffing, allowing his Bear bandmates to flex; the result is the group’s most explosive record.”
