In today’s Post, Adams relates an encounter with O’Donnell last Thursday night during a “pre-theater dinner at Joe Allen’s with Judge Judy, her husband, Judge Jerry and Barbara Walters.” (Oh Cindy, you name dropper you!)

The comedian/talk show host/super mom apparently dropped by the table to inform the party that they’d be reading “the announcement she’s returning to daytime TV,” which apparently came as no surprise to Adams. O’Donnell’s reason for going back to the grind is another story.

“I gotta get back on TV. There’s a Chuck E. Cheese near where I live,” Rosie explained. “I’ve been taking the kids there for years. And they know I tip 100 percent because I used to be a waitress.

“Would you believe the other day, for the first time, they made me wait. On a line. Behind a rope. I gotta get back on TV.”

Wow. I’d hate to see what it would take to get O’Donnell back into stand-up.

Before departing, Rosie tossed out a little extra tidbit: “And it’ll be Oprah’s time slot.”

But, as Adams points out, so far, exactly zero big announcements. Just folks connected with O’Donnell shopping a daytime chatfest. With really big ambitions.
