The singer’s trek in support of latest release Pot of Gold kicks off March 5 at Washington, D.C.’s Bohemian Caverns and will drop in on hip and happenin’ spots across the country through the end of the month.
Russell’s blue-eyed soul has earned her comparisons to a host of other British vocalists, including Joss Stone, Amy Winehouse, Duffy and Adele.
Gold, released digitally in November and physically last month, has garnered considerable critical acclaim for its retro-soul feel and for Russell’s stripped-down take on Gnarls Barkley’s “Crazy.”
Since the release of her debut solo album, 2004’s Under The Munka Moon, the singer has worked to define her sound both on her own and working with artists like Massive Attack, The Roots, Lonnie Liston Smith, Femi Kuti, De La Soul and Quantic.
Her most recent collaboration was the track “Music Takes Me Up” with DJ and producer Mr. Scruff for his album Ninja Tune.
