Because we love our old and new readers equally, we’ve searched out some options. We’re always givers, never takers, and have nothing but hope in our hearts that everyone has a happy New Year.
That said, let’s see what’s happening with all our celebrity friends tonight. Friends of ours are friends of theirs, you know, so feel free to drop by any of these soirees. Don’t say we didn’t warn you there may be a ticket involved – and we didn’t get comped, either, if it’s any consolation.
Thanks to the International Dateline, you’re too late to make it to Sydney, Australia, for the Bongo Virus party at the Trademark nightclub. No matter, we just wanted to mention that Bongo Virus was a reference to the party itself, not its host, Paris Hilton. Tickets were $129.
The Big Apple has more going on than Dick Clark and Ryan Seacrest dropping some big glass ball in Times Square, though it turns out Sen. Hillary Clinton and hubby Bill will be there. And at least it’s free.
But if dropping Benjamins is your thing, Mario Lopez is hosting a bash at the Marquee nightclub ($165) while actress Emmanuelle Chriqui and professional nuisance Perez Hilton hold court at Hotel Gansevoort ($200).
If you’re by Miami and curious, Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson are spinning tunes at Mansion for $200 per head; John Legend is to appear at Prive, also for $200; Diddy, Molly Sims and Maroon 5’s Adam Levine and James Valentine are pected at separate parties at the Fountainbleu hotel ($400 for each event); and Busta Rhymes performs at the Shore Club (starting at $275).
Moving west, Las Vegas has its share of partying stars, depending on your definition of star.
Ashlee Simpson-Wentz and hubby Pete ditch little Mowgli Bronx for a night at Pure nightclub – and you can join them for a paltry $200. Or share a toast with Kim Kardashian and siblings at LAX for $150. Heidi Montag and Spencer tag team at the Christian Audigier nightclub and offer the pleasure of their company for the downmarket price of $125.
Also in Vegas: Usher makes an appearance at the Bellagio’s Bank nightclub, which comes with a $200 cover charge.
And as the stroke of midnight hits Los Angeles, look for Travis Barker and DJ AM doing their thing for New Year’s Nation at the Wilshire Theatre ($90), Eva Longoria at her restaurant, Beso (caveat emptor, no price listed); Robin Thicke at Area ($150); Katy Perry at Paramount Studios (starting at $100); Xzibit at Apple Lounge ($150), Moby, Paul Oakenfold and other DJs under those Giant Maximus circus tents (starting at $70).
Your blogger elves at Pollstar? We’re breaking into Cabo Wabo Fresno and raiding what’s left of the tequila. Don’t tell Sammy.
And stay safe out there tonight, everyone. We want to see you back, commenting up a storm about rubbing shoulders with Paris and pals, in a bright and shiny new 2009.
