The trek kicks off with a pair of shows July 7-8 at Mann Music Center in Philadelphia and, so far, runs through early August.
Stops include Nikon at Jones Beach Theater in Wantagh, N.Y. (July 10), Bank of America Pavilion in Boston (July 14-15), Charter One Pavilion at Northerly Island in Chicago (July 22), Red Rocks Amphitheatre near Denver (July 27) and the Greek Theatre in Berkley, Calif. (August 2).
Joining Mellencamp for most dates on the tour is singer/songwriter Lucinda Williams.
Presale tickets and premium packages are available to members of the singer’s fan club, Club Cherry Bomb, at Mellencamp.com.
General ticket sales begin April 26.
Freedom, due July 15, was recorded at Mellencamp’s Belmont Mall studio near Bloomington, Ind., with his band – Mich Wanchic, Andy York, Miriam Sturm, Dane Clark, Jor Gunnell and Troye Kinnett – and producer T-Bone Burnett.
