At least 30 venues in more than 25 cities will take part in the July 22 – 25 festival, presented by the Digital Club Network, an Internet live music portal. More than 200 acts are expected to perform during the Web extravaganza. Many artists are set to play in small clubs in their hometowns.
Other bands confirmed for the festival include Blink-182, Acoustic Vaudeville featuring Aimee Mann and Michael Penn, Widespread Panic, Static-X, Yo La Tengo, and Richard Thompson.
Dozens of bands will play simultaneously in different cities, and every single performance will be available live online for the fans who just can’t get enough streaming video concert footage. Selected concerts will be re-broadcast around the clock and a number of cybercasting technologies will make the shows available to the global audience.
Among the venues taking part in the online extravaganza are the Metro in Chicago, First Avenue in Minneapolis, Ogden Theatre in Denver, 40 Watt Club in Athens, Ga., and the Casbah in San Diego.
